How to Detect a Visitors Country and City
The Quarkis Country and City Detection consists of two primary components; a front-end PHP script that plugs directly into any of your website pages and a back-end database. The front-end script detects a visitors IP address then feeds it to the backend database where a quick search is performed to match it to the visitors country and city.When a match is found, the results are fed back to the front-end script and displayed or utilized in any way you desire, such as fed back into your log database, emailed to you, or stored as a session or cookie..

Detecting a visitors country is correct approximately 98% of the time. However, detecting the visitors city is about 88% accurate. This is because new IP addresses developing cities become available and push existing IP addresses matching existing cities to get pushed and swaped around.As the complexity of IP addresses and the countries and cities they match with continues to grow, so does our database.
